Abstract

Attribution of extreme events has made fast progress in a short time. As the 21st century began, it was even thought impossible to see the effect of climate change in individual events. Now, the Met Office and many other national climate services and academic institutions are looking towards attribution on an operational basis. This talk will detail the system currently used in the Met Office Hadley Centre for generating model data for event attribution on a monthly basis, along with new ways we are looking to communicate results to customers and the general public, as part of the EUPHEME project.
