IAP delegation with 16 pariticipants led by Prof. Wang Huijun, Director in General of IAP participated in the 8th NIMR-IAP Joint Research Workshop during 11-14 November, 2008, which was hosted by National Institute of Meteorological Research (NIMR). The participatants from both sides gave the reports on applied meteorology, climatology, atmospheric environment, and atmospheric process and so on. They respectively introduced the latest research findings and the major ongoing research. In the final day of the workshop, the both sides also discussed the future collaborative research fields on climate change, atmospheric observation, Asian dust, weather modification, publications etc. as well as the place and possible topic for the next workshop. Experts from Inje University, Cho-sun University, Pusan National University, and National Typhoon Center of KMA also participated in the workshop.
During the workshop, IAP delegation also visited the Meteorological Center of Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) and Gangwon Regional Meteorological Administration, getting better understanding of the organization system, weather forecasting system and research generation situation of KMA.
This academic exchange has better improved the understanding between scientists of IAP and NIMR. The research scientists from both sides thoroughly discussed the scientific fields and problems with common interests and strongly expressed their desire of long-term collaboration in the future.
