IAP LASG deputy director Dr. Tianjun Zhou becomes the member of GEWEX Radiation Panel (GRP), upon the invitation of Dr. Kevin Trenberth, the chair of SSC of GEWEX/WCRP. Dr. Zhou's term of office will start from June 2011 for four years.

GRP was organized to bring together theoretical and experimental insights into the radiative interactions and climate feedbacks associated with cloud processes. The most fundamental scientific question the GRP must answer is: How sensitive is the Earth's climate to changes in radiative and other forcings? Answering this question will enable improved prediction of transient natural climate variations, such as El Ni？o, and provide better understanding of the consequences of natural and human-induced climate changes.

GRP is the core part of GEWEX. Its current chair is Prof. Christian Kummerow of Colorado State University.
