China-Australia Climate Change Workshop Held in Beijing

China-Australia Climate Change Workshop was held at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Beijing on 31 May, 2011. The goal of the workshop was to summarize the collaborative work completed under the framework of the Sino-Australian project “Rainfall and Climate Change in China and Australia”, and provide a forum for prospecting the future cooperation. The workshop was chaired by Prof. Jianping Li, the Chinese PI of the project and deputy director of LASG/IAP.

The workshop started with a detailed introduction to the CSIRO Mathematics, Informatics and Statistics (CMIS) made by Dr. Simon Barry from the (CSIRO). Then Dr. Yun Li, the Australian PI of the project and Prof. Jianping Li gave invited talks respectively outlining the accomplishments made by two sides during the implementation of the projects. Project member Dr. Juan Feng and Yan Guo presented research progress on the related topics. Both sides then discussed plans for future collaboration.

More than 30 project members and postgraduates from IAP and CSIRO attended the workshop.
