[Early Online Release] The Hiatus and Accelerated Warming Decades in CMIP5 Models

Date:2014-06-24

Citation: Song, Y., Y. Q. Yu, and P. F. Lin, 2014: The hiatus and accelerated warming decades in CMIP5 simulations. Adv. Atmos. Sci., 31(6), doi: 10.1007/s00376-014-3265-6.

Main Conclusions:

1. During hiatus decades, most CMIP5 models exhibit a significant decrease in the SST and upper OHC and a significant increase of heat penetrating into the subsurface or deep ocean, opposite to the accelerated warming decades.

2. The air-sea interactions and ocean circulations (STC, AMOC, ITF) play the important roles in in modulating the surface and subsurface temperature
