Prof. Klaus Fraedrich visited IAP

Prof. Klaus Fraedrich from the University of Hamburg visited the Institute of Atmospheric Physics and Chinese National Committee for Future Earth (CNC-FE) on 5 May 2015. The major purpose of his visit is to promote the potential cooperation with CNC-FE and IAP scientists on the “Belmont Forum Collaborative Research Action on ‘Mountains as Sentinels of Change’”.  

Vice-chair of CNC-FE Prof. Guoxiong Wu, secretariat member of CNC-FE Dr. Ailikun, IAP scientists Dr. Anmin Duan, Dr. Yimin Liu, Dr. Rongcai Ren, and other young scientists from the Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth, Chinese Academy of Sciences and IAP attended the meeting. 

Prof. Klaus Fraedrich firstly made presentation on the “Climate hysteresis experiments with an earth-like climate: Static, abrupt, and transient change”. Next, Dr. Ailikun introduced the preparation for applying for the “Belmont Forum Collaborative Research Action on ‘Mountains as Sentinels of Change’”. Representing German partner, Prof. Klaus Fraedrich made valuable suggestion on title and the content of the proposal.   

Klaus Fraedrich is also a Fellow of the Max Planck. He has published more than 150 publications and won several prizes including the “Gay Lussac Prize”. He is also member of the German Advisory Council on Global Change.
