HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and Thailand delegation visited The Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on April 5th, 2012. IAP scientists and HRH Princess Delegation had a friendly discussion; Thai delegation had more than 35 distinguished guests. IAP deputy director, Prof. Zhujiang first expressed the warmest welcome to HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and Thailand delegation, he introduced IAP’s research focuses and advantages, and indicated that IAP’s important development missions were educating internationalized scientists and promoting research cooperation with foreign peers. Prof. Zhang Meigen and Prof. Lin Zhaohui from IAP and Dr. Royol Chitradon, Director of Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute of Thailand gave detailed reports on the updated research focuses and development of Sino-Thai scientific collaboration, the main topics were ‘Seasonal Climate prediction and the application of WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting Model) / RAMS (Regional Atmospheric Modeling System)’,' Extreme weather and climate events and its mechanism in Asian countries’, and update on the joint research progress based on the scientific MOU signed by two institutes. Chinese and Thailand scientists agreed that they would make further effort on developing joint scientific research projects, setting up research team and providing more chances of staff’s visit and students’ exchange.
HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and Thailand delegation visited International Centre for Climate and Environment Sciences and Computer Centre of IAP, and had a cordial communication with Chinese scientists on the interested academics topics. The Ambassador of Thailand to P.R.C, Mr.Wiboon Khusakul; officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand; Dr. Pairash Thajchayapongand, Board of Directors, Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute and representatives from Thailand scientific and cultural field also joined the visit.
