The lecture of  Radar meteorology was given by Prof. Michael Biggerstaff from 21st -25th on March 2011 in the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP). It was our great honor to invite him to give a series of lectures on this subject and this course received a great attention from the students. Prof. Michael Biggerstaff is the Director of the Shared Mobile Atmospheric Research Centre and an Associate Professor of Meteorology in the University of Oklahoma in US. His research mainly focuses on cloud microphysics, electrification and storm dynamics with emphasis on gaining understanding through observational analysis.

Each morning, the lecture was divided into two parts with ten minutes break in between, and twenty minutes reserved for discussion. On the first day of this course, Prof. Hongbin Chen introduced Dr. Michael Biggerstaff to the students by providing an overview of his career including research and teaching experience. Prof. Michael Biggerstaff showed strong enthusiasm to the content of his lecture, and many listeners asked interesting questions. Students also very actively joined the discussion.
