In recent years, Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese academy of sciences (IAP) developed close cooperation with National Institute of Meteorological Research (NIMR) in Korea since the 1st NIMR-IAP Joint Research Workshop was held in Seoul in 1999. This year, the 12th NIMR-IAP Joint Research Workshop was held in Jeju. After the conference, both sides discussed the further cooperation plan. According to the plan, cooperation study on observations will be carried out by researchers in the two institutes based on Beijing 325m meteorological tower in China and Boseong 307m meteorological tower in Korea.

On 22-25 July, 2014, three researchers from NIMR in Korea visited State Key Laboratory of Atmospheric Boundary Layer Physics and Atmospheric Chemistry (LAPC)/IAP and had wide academic exchanges with researchers in LAPC on tower observation, data analysis and boundary layer problems. MoU on further cooperation was signed and a series of exchanges and cooperation will be carried out between LAPC and NIMR in the future.
