The 2nd Congress of China Geodesy and Geophysics (CCGG) was held in Nanjing, China

The 2nd CCGG brought together over 1000 Chinese scientists and graduate students from universities and research institutes gathered at Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology (NUIST) from 23rd to 25th September 2016. Since 2014, Chinese National Committee for International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (CNC-IUGG) holds CCGG every two years, to exchange in multi-disciplinary researches, to promote the development of IUGG, to bring knowledge to the society and to link research to the global sustainable development.

Bearing this in mind, the 2nd Congress centered around “Earth Environment and Orderly Development”. It was composed of plenary session and 38 thematic sessions and the subjects covered cryospheric sciences, geodesy, geomagnetism and aeronomy, hydrological sciences, meteorology and atmospheric sciences, physical sciences of ocean, seismology and physics of the Earth’s Interior, volcanology and chemistry of the Earth’s Interior.

 

 

Chair of CNC-IUGG Prof. YANG Yuanxi presided the opening ceremony, Secretary General of IUGG Dr. Alik Ismail-Zadeh and Chancellor of NUIST Prof. LI Lianshui delivered the welcome remarks. The “Youth Excellent Thesis Awards” for 9 graduate students were awarded to encourage young scholars to involve in the IUGG and CNC-IUGG activities.
