The 13th International Conference on Atmospheric Physics, Climate and Environment, also in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of AM Obukhov, founder of the Russian Institute of Atmospheric Physics, was held on May 15-22, 2018 in Moscow, Russia. Prof. Chen Hongbin, deputy director of IAP with delegation of 9 from IAP attended the conference.
The conference was organized by the A.M. Obukhov Institute of Atmospheric Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IAP RAS) with more than 30 experts and scholars from both China and Russia Institute of Atmospheric Physics attended.
During the conference, the participating scientific researchers gave nearly 20 academic presentations on climate and climate change, atmospheric physics, atmospheric environment and atmospheric pollution, forecasting and atmospheric dynamics. The presentations cover topics on BRICS countries in 1.5oC and 2oC warming worlds, cloud cynamicandthermodynamicfeatures derived from radiosonde data, modeling impacts of urbanization and urban heat island mitigation on boundary layer meteorology and air quality in Beijing and Black carbon in Beijing megacity.
During the meeting, the participants also discussed on strengthening the future cooperation of the two sides by jointly applying for projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology and Chinese Academy of Sciences. This conference is the tenth conference since the joint laboratory of IAP CAS and IAP RAS was established; this series of conference was sponsored in turn each year by China’s and Russia’s IAP for the purpose of exchanging and cooperating in the fields of atmospheric science and climate change. The next International Conferences will be held in China in 2019.
