On November 26, 2019, Dr. Isaev E.K., Chief Specialist from Agency of Hydrometeorology under the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, accompanied by Dr. ZHANG Miao from the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR) , Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), visited the State Key Laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics (LASG), the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), CAS and discussed the application of Seasonal Prediction System in Kyrgyz Republic with scientists from LASG and Center for Monson System Research(CMSR).

Dr. BAO Qing of LASG chaired the seminar. He introduced LASG and its climate system model-FGOALS, highlighting the application of Subseasonal to Seasonal Prediction System. A fruitful discussion then followed on the simulation performance on the complex topographic area of Central Asia, the prediction skills of FGOALS-f2 S2S system on temperature and precipitation in Central Asia one to three months in advance, the possible application of LASG prediction products in a Kyrgyzstan Agriculture and the docking with the satellite monitoring and crop models from the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR), CAS.

LASG research team on model development and prediction took the opportunity of the Belt and Road Initiative to strengthen cooperation within the platform provided by the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO) and promoted the application of LASG climate system model prediction products in the Belt and Road countries and regions.
