Research Overview

Missions and current status

As the national team specializing in the research of atmospheric science and relevant fields, IAP keeps up with the national S&T development strategy for the future, bases itself on the basic research of atmospheric science and relevant crossing fields and basic research for application, explores the cutting-edge research of international science, pays attention to the crossing and integration between atmospheric science and other related disciplines, and places stress on the integrated study on scientific issues. It’s closely involved in the formulation of major national S&T plans, programs and guides, and its capacity of undertaking national major S&T missions has further improved. It strengthens cooperation with colleges and universities, relevant institutes, local governments and enterprises under the background of cooperative innovation, gives play to its leading and demonstration role in atmospheric science, and facilitates the development of atmospheric science and the transfer and transformation of scientific and technological progress. International exchanges and cooperation have been extensive and effective. In terms of scientific research output, it places stress on the quality rather than on the quantity of publication.
